Your registration number travels with it
Regulation 1.4.1 of the 2002 Professional Conduct Regulations requires your registration number on every prescription you give a patient, and section 3.2.5 of the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020 extends that to electronic communication such as WhatsApp. The copy UpcharHub sends is built from the same letterhead as the printed page, so the number is on it. As on paper, the sheet is your own note until you, the treating doctor, sign it.

Does the patient need to install anything?
No. It arrives as a picture in their WhatsApp and opens in the chat — no PDF reader, no app, and no UpcharHub account. Patients cannot sign up for UpcharHub at all; the only thing that reaches them is the copy their own doctor sent.
Do the WhatsApp messages cost extra?
No. They are included — truly free to start, ₹399 ₹99/month later, and that is the whole clinic. There is no per-message charge, no bundle to top up and no add-on to buy. A second doctor costs nothing extra, a front-desk login costs nothing extra, and neither does a prescription or a reminder reaching your patient.
What if I do not have the patient's phone number?
Then nothing is sent, and nothing changes for you. A phone number is not required to record a patient — name and age is enough — so you print the A4 sheet or hand it to WhatsApp yourself from the share sheet, the same way as before.
Does the copy on WhatsApp carry my registration number?
Yes. It is built from the same letterhead the printer uses, so your clinic name, your name, your qualification and your registration number are on it, as Regulation 1.4.1 and section 3.2.5 of the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines require. It is your own visit note, and it becomes a valid prescription only after you, the treating doctor, sign it.
What is the follow-up reminder, and can I change the date?
Every visit has a follow-up date, filled in for you and yours to change or clear. On that date the patient gets a WhatsApp reminder to come and see you again. As with the prescription itself, it only goes out if you have their phone number.
Does UpcharHub message my patients about anything else?
No. UpcharHub sends a patient two things and nothing more: the prescription their doctor wrote, and the follow-up reminder their doctor scheduled. No marketing, no offers, and nothing from us in our own name.
